I was born and bred in the beautiful Coastal town of Knysna in the Western Cape.
I have worn many hats over the years – I’ve been a professional musicia
n, a teacher, and (since the early nineties) I’ve made wine my full-time occupation.
It was in 1983 when a group of friends and I started a wine club that I first became interested in wine. Since then I have learned through travelling and tasting the best local foods and wines all over the world. Great wine Gurus everywhere have shared their knowledge with me, and I hope to do the same for people who are just joining this wonderful passion.
I received my Wine and Spirit Education Trust Wine Judging Certificate in 1997 and became Cape Wine Master in 2000.
In addition to South African wine knowledge, I am also an Australasian Wine Master - a title received from Centre for International Wine Studies at the University of Western Australia, Sydney
